Starting Wednesday most all traffic fines will go up in Illinois

DeKalb – State police and local governments will soon get a cash infusion from drivers speeding seatbelt-free. Starting Wednesday in Illinois, the standard fine for going 20-miles-per-hour over the speed limit will jump from 75 to 120-dollars - failing to wear a safety belt, a 60-dollar fine. WNIJ's Christopher Hosken reports.

NIU's student conduct code

DeKalb, IL – An incident in late August resulted in the arrest and removal from campus of a Northern Illinois University freshman on sexual assault charges brought by a woman who visited his residence hall. That raised questions about university policy in these circumstances. WNIJ's Victor Yehling takes a look at how the NIU Student Code of Conduct applies in such situations.

DeKalb Fire Ops 101

DeKalb, IL – Everyone expects a quick, professional response when they call 9-1-1. We expect firefighters to put out the fire and paramedics to save the life of a loved one. But most of us don't know what it takes to save lives and property, from the physical demands to the massive coordination efforts. WNIJ's Susan Stephens got a sample of it with the DeKalb Fire Department's Fire Ops 101 program last week and survived.
