Flooding makes Rockford disaster area

Rockford, IL – Heavy rains from Monday night caused rapid flooding and forced a number of people to evacuate their homes in Rockford area. It was the worst flooding the city's seen since last year when a storm caused similar problems in the exact same neighborhoods. WNIJ's Tony Arnold talked to some residents who are having a bad case of déjà vu.

Who's eating horse meat?

DeKalb, IL – DeKalb's known for a lot of things - corn, barbed wire, NIU - even Cindy Crawford and most recently, horse slaughter.

WNIJ's Tony Arnold has been following the news surrounding the nation's only plant that slaughters horses for human consumption. And let*s face it, the legal proceedings aren't going to end anytime soon.

DRIVEN: Angela Valianos

DeKalb, IL – Cavel International in DeKalb is the nation's last slaughterhouse that slaughters horses for human consumption. Illinois' governor signed a bill banning the practice last month. Cavel is currently challenging that ban in federal court. Through it all for the past seven years one private citizen has been watching Cavel as close as anyone else. Today we hear her story. WNIJ's Tony Arnold reports.
