$1.1 Trillion Budget Fix Passes Senate

United States Congress

The U.S. Senate easily passed the massive budget bill today, sending the plan on to President Obama. The $1.1 trillion dollar bill funds the government through September.

Every government agency is funded under the bill. NASA and the Army Corps of Engineers will see increased funding, while cuts are being made to foreign aid and the Internal Revenue Service. The Affordable Care Act’s implementation will be funded.

The House passed the bill yesterday. The deadline for passage was midnight this Saturday. It eases the effects of last year’s automatic spending cuts and the government shutdown in October.

Tea Party critics mounted a faint protest compared to the outcry that led to the government shutdown last fall.
