Belts Getting Tighter For Illinois Schools

The Illinois State Board of Education is warning school districts to prepare to make due with less next fiscal year.

State Board of Education spokesman Matt Vanover says school boards must be "very conservative" when putting their budget projections together. School districts will receive about 85% of their normal general state aid payments next year. That's down from 89% of their normal payments this year.
