Bipartisan support for pro-manufacturing bill

Two Illinois Congressmen from opposite sides of the aisle are working together to promote legislation aimed at strengthening American manufacturing.

U.S. Rep. Daniel Lipinski, D-3, originated The American Manufacturing Competitiveness Act and U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-11, signed on as co-sponsor.

Kinzinger says the act, which was approved by the U.S. House earlier this month, will promote the success of American manufacturing.

The act would establish the American Competitiveness Manufacturing Board of government officials and representatives of the private sector.

Kinzinger says the board will focus on reducing red tape for manufacturers. The board would create an overall manufacturing strategy and make recommendations to the President and Congress on how to streamline government processes, which Kinzinger says will make the U.S. more competitive.
