Body Pulled from Kishwaukee River IDed As Rockford Woman

Google Maps

The identity of a woman whose body was pulled from the Kishwaukee River in Rockford yesterday has been released.

The Winnebago County Coroner’s office says Beverly Janet Gritzmaker was found by a kayaker near  the Kishwaukee Gorge Forest Preserve south of Rockford. The 46-year-old from Rockford was officially pronounced dead at 6:00 Sunday evening.

An autopsy was performed Monday and is inconclusive at this point: results from toxicological tests will be available in two weeks.

Earlier media reports misspelled Gritzmaker's name because of incorrect information from the coroner's office.
