Charges Upgraded For Suspect In Connection With Ladd Woman's Death

The man charged with concealing the death of a Ladd woman knew she was murdered. That's according to information revealed Thursday in Putnam County Court.

Prosecutors say 66-year old Clifford Andersen found his sister-in-law, Deborah Dewey, dead in a vacant house in Standard.  He then allegedly wrapped her body in a blue blanket, covered the blanket in a blue tarp, wrapped that in rope and duct tape, and finally buried the body in a shallow grave.

Saukvalley.com reportsthe new evidence means Andersen’s charge is upgraded from concealing a death to concealment of a homicide, which could lead to a 2-5 year prison sentence.  Andersen is currently in Bureau County Jail on $750,000 bond.  His next court date is Oct. 13.

The LaSalle News-Tribune reportsDewey first went missing on Aug. 22, and her body was discovered on Monday.
