Forecast highs of around 15 below zero have led to a flurry of school cancelations for Monday, January 6th. The National Weather Service has classified the deep-freeze expected over the next few days as "life-threatening cold." The following schools are closed Monday: check back for updates.

Garbage collection scheduled for City of Rockford residents on Monday January 6, 2014 has been suspended due to the extreme weather conditions. Collection is scheduled to resume on Tuesday January 7th with the regular collection day being delayed one day throughout the City the remainder of the week.
Waste Management will delay Monday residential pick up across the area for one day.
The Secretary of State's office is closing all 138 of its facilities around Illinois. Offices are set to reopen on Tuesday.
