Closings and Cancellations

A winter storm is making its way across northern Illinois. The system is expected to dump several inches of snow across the region. Forecasters say strong winds will also make travel difficult at times. As a result, some schools are closing early on Tuesday.

Here is the list of closings:

Colleges and Universities

Kishwaukee College will close at 1 p.m.

Sauk Valley College will close at 2:00: all events canceled

Rockford College will close at 3 p.m. today; all classes and activities on campus are cancelled.

Schools

Amboy School District – closing early, no after school activities

Belvidere – no after school activities

DeKalb School District -- high and middle schools closing at 2 p.m.; after-school activities are cancelled. Sports events may be affected as well. Contact school principals for more information.

Dixon School District - letting out at 1:15 p.m.

Hinckley-Big Rock – closing at 1:00

Oregon School District – closing at 1:30

Paw Paw District - letting out at 1 p.m.

Polo School District – Closing early

Rochelle School District - elementary schools letting out at 1:30. Middle school will dismiss at 1:43 Tuesday afternoon.

Sterling School District – closing at 1:00, activities canceled

Woodstock School District – no after school activities

Other:

NAMI-Sauk Valley – tonight’s meeting canceled

NW Illinois Audubon Society – night hike canceled

Creston-Dement Public Library – closing at 1:00

Klehm Arboretum is closed for the rest of the day

Midway Village Museum Center – closing at 2:00
