Community Funds Keep Rosecrance Behavioral Health Triage Center Open Through June

Rockford aldermen approved $100,000 in funds for the Rosecrance Behavioral Health Triage Program.

Located at 605 Mulberry Street, the program provides emergency services to people suffering from psychotic episodes, extreme paranoia, and other mental health issues.  However, Rosecrance was in danger of closing its doors after a dearth of state funding.

The Rockford Register-Star reportsMercyHealth challenged local governments, health systems, and charities to provide the necessary funds.  The City of Rockford's contribution brings the total amount raised to $561,000.  Rosecrance CEO Phil Eaton says that's enough money to keep the program open through June.

In the meantime, officials are looking for alternative ways to fund emergency mental health services.
