A conversation with Bobby Harrison
By Guy Stephens
Rockford, IL – September 12-16, Severson Dells Nature Center near Rockford hosts an event called "The Mysteries and Miracles of Nature." One of the speakers Friday night at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford has achieved fame far outside his chosen field of nature photography. Bobby Harrison electrified both hardcore birders and the general public when he announced in 2005 that he had seen an Ivory-billed Woodpecker in eastern Arkansas. It had long been thought to be extinct. There are still those who doubt Harrison's claims.
WNIJ's Guy Stephens spoke with Harrison about his life-long quest for what he calls "The Holy Grail of Birds."
