Facebook Use Could Be A Personality Indicator

Facebook

If you post Facebook updates about your romantic partner, that could mean you have low self-esteem.

That’s according to a study at Brunel University in London.

Five-hundred fifty-five Facebook users were observed in the study, and the users also completed surveys about self-esteem, narcissism, extroversion, neuroticism, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness.

The findings also indicated narcissists were more likely to post about their achievements and were fueled by large numbers of “likes.” They were also more likely to post about diets and their exercise routine, which could suggest that they use Facebook to broadcast efforts they put into their appearance.

The research also found people who post about their kids are more likely to be conscientious, and it also found that extroverts frequently posted about social events. Those who were neurotic also tend to post about their own personal dramas.
