First Confirmed Human Case Of West Nile Virus In Boone County This Year

The Boone County Department of Public Health today confirmed that a Belvidere man is the first human case of West Nile Virus (WNV) in the county in 2014.

The county Health Department confirmed the case in a press release. The man is said to be resting at home.

This is the fourth confirmed human case of WNV in Illinois this year. In 2013, there were 117 human cases and 11 deaths from the virus.

No one has yet died from the virus this year.
