Art. It inspires, sustains, entertains -- even makes us think. It's the way some people make a living. And its funding is all-too-often the first thing on the chopping block when times are tough. WNIJ's news department decided to take a look at how artists and organizations are adapting to economic and cultural changes.
We chose Rockford as our reporting ground because of its long history with community-supported art, the sheer number and variety of artists active in the city, and honestly, because of the economic challenges that affect everyone's lives. Our recent series on Arts Adapting in Rockford has been transformed into a one hour special, spiced with a little music, poetry, and new voices.
