House Dist. 71: McCombie Challenges Smiddy

Republican Tony McCombie is the mayor of Savanna, Ill. McCombie is a real estate broker with Mel Foster Company and the owner of Blue Appraisals, LLC, a real estate appraisal company that serves Illinois and Iowa.  

Her campaign cites agriculture, protecting second amendment rights, and education as top priorities.

Incumbent Democrat Mike Smiddy grew up in Hampton, a small town along the Mississippi River. He graduated from United Township High School in East Moline.

Smiddy attended Black Hawk College and Western Illinois University, where he studied government and law enforcement.

Following college, Smiddy served for eight years as an aide to former Congressman Lane Evans and then worked as a supervisor for the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Smiddy is serving his second term in the Illinois House of Representatives. He is assigned to the following committees: Appropriations-Higher Education; Community College Access & Afford. (Vice-Chairperson); Juvenile Justice & System-Involved; Labor & Commerce Committee; Transportation, Regulation, Roads; Elementary Secondary Education School Curriculum Policies; Workforce Reconciliation Subcommittee.

Endorsements

Mike Smiddy has been endorsed by the National Rifle Association.

Tony McCombie has been endorsed by the Quad-City Times.
