House Dist. 74: Butts vs. Swanson

Democrat Bill Butts faces Republican Daniel Swanson in the race for Illinois House of Representatives in District 74. The district includes Galesburg and Kewanee.

Incumbent Republican Donald L. Moffitt, who has represented the district for 23 years, is not running for re-election.

Bill Butts is a lifelong Galesburg resident. He owns a law firm and has a background in economics. Butts ran twice before for an Illinois House of Representatives seat. He previously served as Assistant Attorney General for the state. Butts ran unopposed during the March Democratic primary. Daniel Swanson grew up in Woodhull. He's a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel who served for 27 years. Swanson is Superintendent of the Henry County Veterans Assistance Commission. He also spent more than 17 years on the Alwood Board of Education. Swanson defeated Michael DeSutter and Wayne Saline in the March Republican primary.
