The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency says the state's municipal landfills have a life expectancy of 21 years.

The agency released its annual landfill capacity report for 2013 this week.

Last year, 42 landfills reported receiving over 45 million gate cubic yards of waste and reported more than 947 million gate cubic yards of combined remaining capacity.
