Illinois Attorney General Sues Volkswagen Over Environmental Impact of Emissions Scandal

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is suing Volkswagen over the environmental effects of its emissions scandal.

She accuses the German automaker of tampering with emission controls in more than 19,000 Audis and Porsches in violation of state environmental laws.

Madigan was among 43 state attorneys general who  reached a
$275 million settlement with Volkswagen earlier this year.  The company was accused of selling and leasing diesel vehicles with illegal software that concealed their true pollution levels.

A company spokeswoman says they’re committed to reaching a “fair and efficient resolution” of the lawsuit.
