Illinois is working to improve its anti-hate curriculum in schools.
Education Secretary Beth Purvis says the state will work with the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a global human rights organization.
"Nearly 20 years ago, we became the first state in the country to require our children to learn about the Holocaust. It's important that we educate our children on these horrific incidents to ensure that they never happen again."
Governor Bruce Rauner adds that recent acts of anti-Semitism and hate crimes illustrate the need to ramp up the fight against hate.
