Kishwaukee College President Mum On Contract Negotiations

LinkedIn

The Kishwaukee College Education Association is preparing for informational picketing about protracted contract negotiations with the community college in Malta.

Kishwaukee College President Tom Choice tells WNIJ there is an agreement with the faculty union to not discuss details of negotiations.

Choice says he believes both sides are sincere in their interest in reaching a fair and equitable contract as soon as possible.

He adds "the Fall semester is progressing as it always has and there is no indication that there will be any disruption in completing the classes as scheduled."

The KCEA represents full-time faculty members at the college, who have been working without a contract since August.

Association president Matt Read is a mathematics instructor and chair of the mathematics department.

He added, "I can confirm that the KCEA is planning informational picketing activities to take place ASAP."

Read says KCEA members and community supporters attended the two previous Board of Trustees meetings. Members plan to attend the Dec. 9 board meeting, where Read plans to speak on behalf of the association.
