'Last Minute' Gift Market To Benefit Safe Passage

More than two dozen local vendors will take part in an effort to raise money for DeKalb County's domestic violence shelter. The "Last Minute Gifts Market" will be held Saturday, Dec. 19 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Federated Church of Sycamore, 612 W. State St., Sycamore.

Admission is a donation to Safe Passage. Items for purchase include books, jewelry, food gifts, cosmetics, candles, and handmade goods.

Mark Pietrowski is an organizer of the event and chairs the DeKalb County Board. He says, this time of year, it is important to consider non-profits in the area:

"With the budget impasse in Springfield, a lot of them are going through tough times, so just finding local residents that can do everything that they can to help in any way they can for our local nonprofits is a great thing to do."

Ten percent of vendor sales will also benefit Safe Passage.
