Lawmakers Push Back Filing Deadline

Municipal state workers won't have to work Christmas Eve. The deadline for candidates to file petitions for local offices will now be the day after  Christmas.

The filing deadline for the spring consolidated election was previously scheduled for Dec. 24. That would have meant paying overtime for some city workers.
The first day to file nominating petitions is Monday, Dec. 17.
