Legislative Leaders Reach Deal On Pensions

Illinois.gov

Legislative leaders have reportedly reached a deal to solve the state's pension crisis. That's according to Steve Brown, spokesman for House Speaker Michael Madigan.

The four legislative leaders met today and came to some sort of agreement. Madigan's staff is putting together an "explanatory memo" for lawmakers, but won't send it to them until Friday. Lawmakers can expect to be called back into session next week to take on the issue.

Illinois' $100-billion pension crisis is the worst in the nation.
