WNIJ news – Residents in Illinois' 8th Congressional District now know who their next Congressman will be. After a hard fought race, incubment Democrat, Melissa Bean, has conceded to her Republican opponent. Bean's announcement follows a final tally of absentee and provisional ballots, which gave GOP nominee, Joe Walsh, a lead of 290 votes. With Walsh's victory, the district now goes back to Republican control, six years after Bean defeated longtime GOP Congressman, Phil Crane. In the new Congress, all of northern Illinois' Congressional districts outside of Chicago will be represented by Republicans.
