Morrissey Files Complaint Over Negative Ads

Larry Morrissey

In Rockford, Mayor Larry Morrissey has filed a complaint with the Illinois Board of Elections over campaign ads. The complaint says Democrat mayoral candidate Jim Hughes illegally coordinated with the police union to run negative ads for Morrissey's re-election bid.

According to the Rockford Register-Star, Hughes calls the complaint a “campaign tactic.”

A news release issued by Morrissey's campaign says Hughes incorporated the ads into his web site and Facebook page.

The television and radio ads began running in February.
