After a national search, Rock Valley College has gone in-house for its new president. The College's Board of Trustees today announced it has selected Michael Mastroianni as RVC's sixth president.
A Rockford native and RVC alumnus, Mastroianni has spent the last 16 years at the institution as a dean and vice president before serving as interim president.
Board Chair Michael Dunn says Mastroianni held his own in a large field of strong candidates and emerged as the best choice.
"He came in with just as much passion, just as much sophistication. He had the added bonus of knowing where the college had been going over his two decades of service."
Dunn says because he knows the area, Mastroianni will be able to start working with the community on day one to move Rock Valley College forward. In fact, Mastroianni begins serving as president immediately, with formal installation ceremonies and community meetings to be scheduled soon.
