DeKalb – Two dozen NIU alumni who traveled to Japan are on their way home. All are on a United Airlines flight, according to Joseph Matty - executive director of the NIU Alumni Association. The travelers arrived in Tokyo Friday at the same time the massive earthquake struck. Matty says all the travelers are fine and in the capable hands of Pat Anderson, the group's leader. Matty praised Anderson for maintaining contact with him and making sure the travelers were safe, well-informed and able to contact relatives. Matty says some travelers will get off the flight at Honolulu. He says about 18 are scheduled to arrive at O'Hare airport Wednesday morning at about five o'clock.
