NIU Remains Undefeated

NIU Athletics

 The Northern Illinois University football team remains ranked #14 in the latest BCS standings.The Huskies (12-0, 8-0 Mid-American Conference) will face MAC East Champions Bowling Green in the 2013 MAC Championship Game at Detroit's Ford Field on Friday, Dec. 6.

According to NIU Athletics:  

***The  Huskies are 12-0 for the first time in school history. NIU’s previous best undefeated mark was a 10-0 record in 1963 when the Huskies won the College Division National Championship.

***NIU won its 26th straight game at Huskie Stadium, the longest winning streak by an FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) team in its home stadium.  The Huskies’ streak dates back to Sept. 26, 2009 when NIU lost to Idaho, 34-31.  NIU completed its fourth straight unbeaten season at Huskie Stadium.

***With its 12th straight win, NIU tied its school record for longest winning streak.  The record was first set by the 2012 Huskies.

**NIU has won 24 of its last 25 games.

***NIU extended its nation-leading conference winning streak to 25 games; NIU has not lost to a MAC opponent since Oct. 1, 2011 (CMU).
