The Smoke-Free Northern Illinois University Task Force and students discussed a draft policy for smoking last night.
The Smoke-Free Campus Act will go into effect July 1st and applies to all NIU campuses. The draft also prohibits the use of e-cigarettes and smoking in privately-owned parked cars.
The prohibition does not include smoking associated with a recognized religious ritual and tobacco use exclusively conducted for medical or scientific research.
More information on the draft is on NIU's website.
