WNIJ News

Beloit College alumna and accomplished cellist Helen Gillet ’00, Victor E. Farrell Endowed Artist-in-Residence this fall, will perform at the college's Eaton Chapel at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24.

Gillet is a jazz-based cellist, singer, composer, and improviser. She is known for performing an eclectic mix of French, contemporary jazz, North Indian, blues and classical styles.

WNIJ's Guy Stephens spoke with Gillet in 2015 before a previous performance at Beloit College.  You can find his story, along with audio of the radio feature that included Gillet performing her music, here

Guy Stephens produces news stories for the station, and coordinates our online events calendar, PSAs and Arts Calendar announcements. In each of these ways, Guy helps keep our listening community informed about what's going on, whether on a national or local level. Guy's degrees are in music, and he spent a number of years as a classical host on WNIU. In fact, after nearly 20 years with Northern Public Radio, the best description of his job may be "other duties as required."
