Primary elections are scheduled in a few places in northern Illinois today.

  • There is a Republican mayoral primary in Rockford, and several City Council wards will have primary elections. One Republican and four Democratic incumbents face challenges.
  • Aurora also is holding a mayoral primary.
  • In Boone County, Belvidere will have primaries for mayor and for alderman in wards 3 and 5.
  • Belvidere Township will vote for one of five candidates for highway commissioner and four of five trustee hopefuls.
  • In Kane County, Democrats will vote in Aurora Township and Republicans in Dundee Township.

All other counties in the WNIJ listening area reported no scheduled primary elections. They're gearing up for the consolidated election on Tuesday, April 4.
