DeKalb, IL – Hearings on radical Islam in America begin today in the House Homeland Security committee. Committee chair Peter King says the hearings are necessary to find out the extent of al-Qaeda's influence in the U.S., but some see it as a showcase to demonize Islam. That includes the managing editor of the Madison-based magazine The Progressive. Last night, Amit Pal spoke at Northern Illinois University about his new book, "Islam Means Peace." WNIJ's Susan Stephens asked Pal about the effect HE thinks the hearings will have on Muslim-Americans.
