WNIJ will carry the Governor's address today at noon
It is an opportunity for the Chicago Democrat to boast of his accomplishments and set the stage for his budget address in the coming weeks. Senator Mike Jacobs, a Democrat from East Moline, says he believes Quinn has done a good job despite difficult circumstances.
But he could do better:
"He's got a very tough job to do. You can't blame him for all the economic problems; he's dealing with them the best he can. But hopefully he gives us some direction. I think that's what's sorely missing in Illinois, leadership and direction." - Sen. Mike Jacobs
Quinn is expected to talk about overhauling Illinois' pension crisis. Lawmakers haven't agreed on a plan to address the nearly $100 billion pension shortfall.
