Governor Pat Quinn has hired Bill Hyers to serve as chief strategist for his 2014 re-election campaign. Hyers, an Illinois native, managed Pennsylvania for President Obama's campaign for re-election in 2012.
Hyers recently managed Bill de Blasio's campaign for mayor of New York City.
According to a news release, the campaign will announce additional senior staff in the coming weeks.
Quinn faces anti-violence activist Tio Hardiman in the March 18 primary.
