Quinn's View On Government Shutdown

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn says if the federal government shutdown continues, Illinois will have to lay off more workers. The state already had nearly 100 temporary layoffs for workers who receive federal funding.

"Some of the jobs that we have in our state government are funded by the federal government. They deal with workplace safety, they deal with providing benefits to people who have disabilities, or who are very young -- children who need help with respect to food," Quinn said.

Quinn sent a letter to U.S. House Speaker John Boehner urging an end to the shutdown.

Meanwhile, Illinois Congresswoman Cheri Bustos calls the federal government shutdown "unfair."  She says lawmakers should be allowed to vote on funding the government and negotiate later.
