A replacement is now in place for Jim Sacia. The Republican state Representative is retiring after serving the 89th District for the past decade. On Wednesday, local GOP members announced that Freeport businessman Brian Stewart was selected to fill the post. He's expected to formally take over in October and will fill out the remainder of Sacia's current term, which runs through 2014.
Stewart is the president and CEO of Nationwide Inbound, a call center based in Freeport. He's been active in the Stephenson County GOP.
Sacia has served in the House since 2003. The 89th district stretches from Rockford to Galena and sits against the Iowa and Wisconsin state lines.
