Northern Illinois congressman Aaron Schock built his personal wealth off of extensive business dealings with campaign contributors.
That’s according to an AP review. The Republican was under scrutiny for lavishly redecorating his Capitol Hill office and flying aboard private planes owned by donors.
Schock pushed for a federal appropriation that would have benefited a donor's development project.
Such deals with campaign contributors are legal if done on normal commercial terms. But it raised questions about the overlap between Schock's personal finances and his donors' business and political interests.
