Rochelle Peace Pole

Rochelle, IL – When you think of cultural diversity, you probably think big city. But it can happen anywhere. Rochelle is a northern Illinois town of about 95-hundred people. It's known as The Hub City, a transportation mecca where rail lines and highways converge. Rochelles place in international business was solidified when Union Pacific Railroad opened its intermodal facility two years ago.

Students at Rochelle Township High School are getting a chance to understand their place in the world: they've started an International Club. For their first big project, they decided to put up a permanent symbol of the connections between their small Midwestern city and the rest of the planet. Susan Stephens reports:
