The Rock River Water Reclamation District is holding an open house Tuesday about coming sewer work on Spring Creek Road.
The $16.5 million project will tear up the road and install a larger sewer trunk line. This component funnels sewer water from northeast Rockford to the district's treatment plant on Kishwaukee Street. The line was last replaced in 1980, and increased growth has resulted in instances of sewage backup.
District officials say the yearlong project will reduce the section of Spring Creek Road between North Alpine Road and Illinois 251 to one lane in each direction.
