Rockford Police Public Record Dispatch Call Log Will Move Web Locations

Rockford Police Department

The Rockford Police Department has warned people in the past that, just because something -- like a string of alleged shootings -- is called in, the call may not be classified that way.

Now the place where that information will be posted will change, because the Illinois data portal that hosted the information will go offline indefinitely this year to undergo web maintenance.

Rockford Police Chief Dan O’Shea says the department still wanted to keep its transparency despite the state’s web maintenance, and that’s why it moved the data to its own platforms.

“We didn’t want to not have the information available to the public,” O’Shea said, "so our IT people just created a different program that will run internally here and keep a 72-hour dispatch log of all calls received and officers dispatched, too, so the public can access it from our website."

O’Shea says it’s unclear whether the data will be migrated back to the state portal after it’s live again.
