WNIJ news – Students in the Rockford school district face big changes next fall. That's after the board of education voted to close six schools to help address the district's budget deficit. The action came during a special meeting, which attracted hundreds of parents and students. The board also decided to eliminate eight assistant principals. Additional cuts were held over for the next meeting.

Summerdale Elementary
Kennedy Middle School - students will be transferred to Auburn Freshman Campus
