Classical WNIU invites you to experience Rockford Symphony Orchestra's next "Classics Series" concert at the Coronado Theater this Saturday, April 26th at 7:30pm.
The RSO presents "Love of Homeland" featuring four works inspired by just that. The evening begins with Dvorak’s tone poem My Homeland, honoring his beloved Bohemia. He was inspired by Smetana’s Ma Vlast (my country) and you will hear the vivid depiction of the Vlatava River in Moldau, the most well know section of that work.
Next the RSO will celebrate the U.S.A. with the rousing American Rhapsody from Hungarian-born composer Ernst von Dohnanyi. The evening closes with the drama and color of Serge Prokofiev’s electrifying score for the 1938 movie Alexander Nevsky. The program also features Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center's Mendelssohn Chorale and Karen Brunssen, soprano.
