The RSO Classics Concert Series - "Opening Night"
WNIU invites you to celebrate "Opening Night" - this Saturday -- with the Rockford Symphony Orchestra. The RSO's Classics Series of six concerts between now and April will feature music inspired by love, in all its many forms. Festivities kick off at 6:30pm this Saturday, at the Coronado Performing Arts Center, with the effervescent "Donna Diana Overture." The program continues with RSO favorite Kathy Pyeatt back on the Coronado stage to perform three famous operatic arias celebrating romantic love. Her exciting renditions evoke images of a young "Juliet" enjoying dreams of a carefree life before the snares of love entrap her... "Violetta," rejecting Alfredo's persistent offerings of love in favor of the pursuit of pleasure... and "Leonore," who calls upon the power of love for the strength to rescue her husband from death at a tyrant's hand. The music of Dorff, Verdi, Beethoven, and Elgar set the scenes for a rich, dramatic "Opening Night" concert by the Rockford Symphony at the Coronado, this Saturday evening at 6:30. There's more information in our Events calendar.
