Schilling Will Try To Win Back 17th Congressional Seat

Republican Bobby Schilling is once again running for Congress. The one-term Republican, who lost his seat last year, announced Monday he'll try to reclaim his post in Illinois' 17th Congressional District.

In 2010, Schilling was among the wave of freshman Republicans elected to Congress. But in November, he lost to Democrat Cheri Bustos in a closely watched race.

Schilling was one of three freshman Republicans from Illinois who were ousted last year. The other two were Joe Walsh and Robert Dold.

Schilling is a Colona businessman who owns a pizzeria. He says he'll focus his campaign on economic issues.

The 17th Congressional District sprawls from the Iowa state line to include parts of northwest and west-central Illinois.
