Several Northern Illinois High Schools Make National Top Ranks

Some northern Illinois high schools were top-ranked by a database that grades schools across Illinois and the country.

All four public high schools within District 155, which represents the Crystal Lake area, were rated among the best schools in the state and nation.

Prairie Ridge High School made the top 50 schools in the state. That high school and Cary-Grove High School made the top one thousand in the country. 

Those two schools, along with Crystal Lake Central High School, received an overall grade of A.

A high ranking from Niche considers student and staff happiness, safety and resources. 

DeKalb High School got a grade of C, and Rockford schools received an average grade of C. Sterling High School got a B, LaSalle-Peru Township High School got a B- and Freeport High School received a C+.

Niche.com provides rankings and reviews for K through 12 schools and colleges, along with neighborhoods. It was founded by Carnegie Mellon University students in 2002.
