Soggy Finish For Illinois Farmers

Illinois farmers ended the season with wet fields.

This is the final weekly Crop Progress and Condition report for 2015.  Weekly reports resume again in April.

  • Statewide, precipitation averaged 1.48 inches, 0.58 inches above normal.
  • The average temperature was 41.0 degrees, 3.8 degrees above normal.
  • There were 1.9 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending November 29.
  • Winter wheat condition was rated 1 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 55 percent good, and 12 percent excellent.
Jenna Dooley has spent her professional career in public radio. She is a graduate of Northern Illinois University and the Public Affairs Reporting Program at the University of Illinois - Springfield. She returned to Northern Public Radio in DeKalb after several years hosting Morning Edition at WUIS-FM in Springfield. She is a former "Newsfinder of the Year" from the Illinois Associated Press and recipient of NIU's Donald R. Grubb Journalism Alumni Award. She is an active member of the Illinois News Broadcasters Association and an adjunct instructor at NIU.
