Belvidere is one of the top ten small cities in Illinois to start a business, according to a new study.
WalletHub places Belvidere 6th among Illinois small cities in its study. The town was 241st out of 12 hundred cities ranked across the country.
Belvidere Mayor Mike Chamberlain says the ranking recognizes the lengthy effort by the city and its partners to bring businesses to the area
“It just shows that all the work that so many people have put in for so long is paying off, and that we’re starting to be noticed, and the economic potential for this region is being talked about on a wider scale.”
Chamberlain says the city’s work to make itself more attractive to business will continue.
“People are starting to get the idea that this is a great place to come and do business. I’m very pleased that we’ve gotten this far. We’ve accomplished much, but there much, much more to do.”
North Chicago topped the Illinois list, placing 2nd in the nation. Crystal Lake, St. Charles and Carpentersville ranked 20th, 21st and 22nd respectively among Illinois small cities.
The study rated cities according to business environment, access to resources and business costs.
