Sycamore’s city council examined a $14.3 million capital improvement plan for fiscal year 2018.
The Daily Chronicle reports about $10 million would go toward the third phase of construction for a wastewater treatment plant expansion. The city slowly raised sewer rates since 2015 to pay for the improvements, but the current plans have dedicated revenue streams.
About $3 million would go toward street maintenance and repairs, particulary Ellen Street, which is over a series of water main breaks. A full list of streets to be repaired will be brought to the council March 6.
The rest of the money would go toward various capital projects, such as building a bike path on Airport Road.
The council will review a full plan of the budget March 20.
