Three Years And Out: DeKalb County Clerk Resigns

DeKalb County’s Clerk and Recorder is resigning. John Acardo announced Wednesday he has taken a new job, as Kishwaukee College’s human resources director.

The 30-year-old Republican was elected three years ago and recently announced he planned to run for re-election. Acardo says he has accomplished everything he set out to do in the office and now wants to return to his “passion” -- human resources. Before he was elected clerk, he was human resources director for Hanover Township.

Just this week, Acardo touted his office’s completion of one of his big campaign promises: to convert the county’s land records to a searchable, on-line database.

Acardo’s last day is September 17th. The County Board chair and head of the Republican Party in DeKalb County will work together to appoint a successor.
