Union Pacific To Improve Illinois Rail Line
Union Pacific Railroad will spend nearly $11 million in the rail line between La Fox, Ill., and Clinton, Iowa. The project began on September 12 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of December.
According to a news release, the railroad will install nearly 60,000 concrete ties and 22,300 tons of rock ballast. The project is one of nearly 1,500 Union Pacific will complete across its 32,000-mile network this year to help improve train operating efficiency, reduce motorist wait times at crossings and enhance safety.
